Welcome Green Explorers!
As a teacher, educator or youth group leader, we invite you to take your students on a Green Explorer mapmaking journey into our community. Children and young adults are important participants in the Green Pueblo Map, and their Green Maps are powerfully expressive documents of their explorations, discoveries and hopes for their own communities.
The Green Pueblo map gives a fresh perspective of Greater Tucson. It will help students understand and locate community eco-resources such as recycling centers, solar energy sites, and native plant gardens, as well as social and cultural assets, such as parks, museums, and historical sites. It also gives youth a voice in their own future, helping them communicate with their peers, older people, and decision-makers.
Students may make a printed, digital, poster or mural 'theme Green Map' that's tied to learning objectives and/or important environmental issues facing their neighborhoods or schools. On this website you will find suggested lesson plans, classroom resources and mapmaking opportunities.
